No charges were filed in the death of the high school freshman.
A teenager who hoped to become a police officer some day was identified Monday as the victim of an accident last Tuesday after he was struck and killed by the driver of a pickup truck in Manville.
Police say 14-year-old George Watkins was walking towards the Marketplace Mall crossing North Main Street at about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday when a 2019 Ford F-150 hit the high school freshman. A 40-year-old-man from Somerset County was identified as the driver and remained on scene, cooperating with police. No charges were filed but the truck was towed for further examination, according to police.
