A pickup truck crashed into an abandoned building in Thunder Bay after a police chase. The suspect was arrested at the scene.

Thunder Bay Police initially spotted a vehicle leaving a business on Fort William Road around 1:30 am with items that appeared to be stolen.

After speeding away from police, officers saw the suspicious vehicle crash into an abandoned building on Simpson Street. When the white pickup truck took down the building's south-facing wall, it became trapped under large pieces of the old European Bakery. Investigators used a drone to capture overhead images of the scene for their investigation, where three kayaks were photographed scattered around the truck and collision scene.

Due to the extensive structural damage caused by the collision, the city sent engineers to assess the safety and viability of the building. A 43-year-old man is facing a total of six charges, including impaired driving and dangerous operation. The accused was remanded into custody.
