Protests surged across the U.S. and around the world following the death of a Minneapolis man named George Floyd on May 25. Floyd died after a police officer knelt on his neck during an arrest. The police officer who knelt on Floyd’s neck was arrested and charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter on May 29. Three other officers were also at the scene the day Floyd died. All were fired, but many protesters are calling for them to be arrested. At a rally in Coral Gables, Florida, on May 30, police officers kneeled in solidarity with protesters. Officials have put curfews in place in many major U.S. cities, which means people aren’t allowed to leave their homes at night. That’s the case in Los Angeles where this girl marched with her family on May 30.
