Saturday afternoon’s rain didn’t dampen enjoyment of local Pride activities
Due to inclement weather Saturday afternoon, Fierté Sudbury Pride had to make some last-minute adjustments, and its Pride in the Park event became Pride in the Arena.
As previously reported, the main event Saturday afternoon was originally supposed to be the annual Pride March, but this was cancelled after concerns raised by Black Lives Matter Sudbury regarding the presence of local police for traffic control. “You can hear the music from anywhere . There's lots of vendors, some of them from out of town, who come to sell all kinds of Pride merchandise. There's local organizations, and everybody has just come together.”“People seem to be enjoying themselves and enjoying coming together,” they said. “Especially with the current political climate and a lot of anti trans-pushback that's happening locally and in the States, I think people really needed this.
