“I felt kidnapped,” Bracken said during the news conference. “I’d never been arrested before and it’s the best word I can think of to describe being taken so abruptly from my life and from my work and in violation of my Charter rights.” In November 2021, Bracken and a documentary filmmaker, Michael Toledano, were arrested after police forced their way into a cabin called “Tiny House” in the protest area and arrested them, along with others inside.
The lawsuit seeks a court to declare her and The Narwhal’s rights to freedom of the press were breached by the arrest as well as costs and damages.chiefs and their supporters have been trying to stop the 670-kilometre natural gas pipeline across northern B.C. that runs through their territory from being built.
