This is the second time in 2023 former Sun Devil hoops and current NBA star James Harden has supported an ASU women's sports team.
This is the second time this year that Harden has publicly supported ASU's female athletes on camera. The first time was when since he donated his signature adidas sneakers to the women's basketball team in February.
“It’s always special when Sun Devil legends return to campus," Winkworth said in an email to The Republic."For our current student athletes, it’s exciting to meet world-class sportsmen and women. It shows that with an immense amount of talent and work, ASU is a place that can help you chase your dreams.
Harden lives full-time in Houston, but also owns a home in the Phoenix area. He clearly loves returning to ASU after he left for the NBA as a sophomore in 2009, when he was a No. 3 overall pick by the Oklahoma City Thunder. On June 30 when NBA free agency opened, Harden exercised his $35.6 million player option at the end of his two-year deal with Philadelphia but requested a trade that same day.
