Oke has been the Petes' general manager since February 2013 after serving as interim GM for four priors prior. He's also the team's new vice-president of operations.
The Peterborough Petes have signed general manager Mike Oke to a new five-year contract. He's also taking on the role of vice-president of operations.On Tuesday, the Petes announced that not only did Oke sign a new five-year contract through to 2028 as GM, he’s also assuming the role of vice-president of operations. The position was left vacant following the departure of Burton Lee.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank the Peterborough Petes’ executive board for the trust and commitment that they have shown me,” said Oke. “I would also like to thank Rob Wilson, as well as members of our hockey operations staff for the strong relationships we’ve formed over the past number of years,” said Oke.
The Petes captured the OHL championship this past season, their first in 17 years. The team advanced to the Canadian Hockey League’s Memorial Cup championship and“Coming off an OHL championship, we needed to ensure that we had a plan in place to get back to the Memorial Cup and we believe Mike can help us to achieve that plan,” stated Petes’ president, Dave Lorentz.
