Her humor can come from almost anywhere: relationships, technology, work, animals, anxiety, history, or simply taking a familiar expression and interpreting it in the most unexpected way. Her work also features plenty of wordplay. Familiar phrases, social habits, and everyday frustrations become visual gags, while animals and historical or fictional scenarios are often given distinctly modern problems. The result is humor that may seem simple at first glance but often rewards taking a second look.
Manning’s path to cartooning also has a deeply personal side. As she previously told Bored Panda, after studying Film & TV and working in television, she developed ME/CFS , which severely limited her activities for years. During that period, she began recording cartoon ideas whenever inspiration appeared. Drawing eventually became an important creative outlet, and those ideas developed into the distinctive cartoons she creates today.
Scroll down to enjoy more of her playful observations on the strange, absurd, and unexpectedly funny side of everyday life. I love writing about cats, dogs, inspiring stories, talented artists, and incredible photographers. One of the things I love most about my work is discovering people, projects, and stories that deserve to be seen — and having the honor of introducing them to readers around the world.
That’s what makes Bored Panda so special to me: it can turn a small story, a photograph, or the work of a little-known artist into something seen, shared, and appreciated by millions of people. Being part of that bridge between those who create and those on the other side of the world ready to be inspired is a privilege. I only have one complaint: days should have 48 hours.
There are too many stories to discover, too many talents to meet, and a whole world of incredible things I still want to share. 🐾❤️I love writing about cats, dogs, inspiring stories, talented artists, and incredible photographers. Before joining Bored Panda, I worked in freelance writing and project coordination/management at my alma mater. Outside work, you’ll find me carving corners on my motorcycle, falling into history-related rabbit holes, keeping up with politics, and occasionally building scale models or Lego “for five minutes” that turns into an entire evening. I also have a weakness for bold colors, sunsets, and wonderfully strange animals. Hey Pandas!
