The 2024 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Economic Leaders' Summit will be held in Lima, Peru, from Nov. 15-16. This visit will mark the third time Prime Minister Justin Trudeau—who is leading the Canadian delegation—travels to Peru during his term. Established in 1989, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation has become the leading platform for its focus in the region.
This renewed consensus has enabled the adoption of 15 major agreements, spanning ministerial declarations and technical-policy instruments on key issues such as economic inclusion for people with disabilities, low-emission hydrogen development, food waste reduction, and a just energy transition. Another major contribution of the summit is that it has also included as a priority the informal economy, a complex and cross regional issue that affects us all.
