The victim was found at the scene of a solo-vehicle collision in the 1800 block of Benedict Drive.

Officers were initially called to the 1800 block of Benedict Drive around 6:25 p.m. for a report of a solo-vehicle collision, the San Leandro Police Department said in a news release Tuesday. They arrived to find the driver suffering from a gunshot wound.Police said they believe the fatal shooting happened in the same general area just before the crash. That stretch of Benedict Drive is between Estudillo and Grand avenues, just above Interstate 580.
