“We do believe there are others involved in this incident,” Birmingham police Sgt. Monica Law said after two people were killed Thursday night in a shooting.

Birmingham police conduct a double homicide investigation in the 8300 block of 1st Avenue North.A person of interest is in custody following a double homicide Thursday night in the parking lot of a northeast Birmingham gas station, authorities said.

Police also believe at least one other person was involved in an altercation that preceded the double shooting that killed two men at the Shell gas station in the 8300 block of 1st Avenue North, said Birmingham police Sgt. Monica Law. Police received a ShotSpotter report of multiple shots fired at the gas station around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Law said.One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene by Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service personnel while the second taken to UAB Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries.“We do believe there are others involved in this incident,” she said, urging anyone who has information on the double homicide to contact police at 205-254-1764 or CrimeStoppers at 205-254-7777.
