The California Highway Patrol responded around 6:45 p.m. Sunday.
BAY POINT — A person was wounded in a highway shooting here late Sunday night, the California Highway Patrol said.
The shooting happened on eastbound Highway 4 west of the Bailey Road exit, according to the CHP. The CHP responded around 6:45 p.m. and found a vehicle on the right shoulder of the highway. Officers later learned that a person inside that vehicle had reported being shot, according to the CHP. The agency said the person in the vehicle already had been taken to John Muir Medical Center via an ambulance.
The person was listed in stable condition, and the injuries were not life-threatening, according to the CHP. CHP spokesman Adam Lane said the circumstances that led to the shooting, as well as the shooting itself, remain under investigation.
