🔴 Penny Mordaunt becomes ninth Tory running to replace Boris Johnson
So far, former Cabinet ministers Rishi Sunak, Sajid Javid, Grant Shapps and Jeremy Hunt have put themselves forward, along with Chancellor Nadhim Zahawi, Attorney General Suella Braverman, ex-equalities minister Kemi Badenoch and Defence Select Committee chair Tom Tugendhadt.silent on her own ambitions, while a handful of Tory MPs have been backing Home Secretary Priti Patel for a bid.
Conservative former minister Jeremy Hunt billed himself as the most “experienced” hand in the party leadership content.that there were “a lot of very angry voters” who had abandoned the party in recent months, adding: “They are not going to come back to us automatically and choosing me will be a very strong signal that the Conservative Party has listened to their anger.
“If I become prime minister we’ll have an emergency Budget, we’ll introduce that immediately,” he said.
