Biden will deliver remarks on public safety and reducing gun violence during an event at Wilkes University, according to the White House event schedule.Trump is expected to follow over the weekend as he hosts his first midterm rally on Saturday at an arena a few miles away, according to Axios.
Bognet, who previously worked for the Trump administration as an appointee to the U.S. Export-Import Bank, is the only Pennsylvania congressional hopeful to have secured an endorsement from Trump. "I was proud to work for President Trump in his administration to advance the 'America First' agenda," Bognet told Axios."I'm the only challenger in Pennsylvania endorsed by President Trump, and I'm excited President Trump is having a huge rally in my district this Saturday."Trump received the most votes in Luzerne County, where Wilkes-Barre is located, during the 2020 election.
Biden's visit is just one of three appearances in the state in the next two weeks. Biden is expected to return to the state on Thursday for a speech at Independence Hall in Philadelphia and then has another visit to Pittsburgh next week for a Labor Day parade. The visits come three months ahead of the midterm elections.
