Statewide, COVID-19 hospitalizations have fallen to less than half the January peak.

Adult patients hospitalized at Penn State Health hospitals can have up to two visitors per day beginning Monday. Penn State Health said the revised visiting rules reflect a “downward trend” in patients testing positive for COVID-19.Restrictions also remain for patients with COVID-19, with visitation determined through discussions between families and staff.

Penn State Health operates Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Holy Spirit Medical Center, Hampden Medical Center and St. Joseph Medical Center. Penn State Health was caring for 76 adult patients and 10 children with COVID-19 on Friday. That’s a major decline from early January, when it was caring for about 230 patients with COVID-19.

Statewide, hospitals were caring for 2,909 patients with COVID-19 on Friday, down from about 7,500 during the peak of the omicron surge in January. Note to readers: if you purchase something through one of our affiliate links we may earn a commission.
