The CDC posted a watered-down version of its reopening guidance, capping a week of controversy over the much-anticipated documents
as early as today on their $3 trillion coronavirus relief package, despite reservations from both ends of the party and little hope it’ll gain traction in the Senate.
The massive package is symbolic for a party that contends Congress must take unprecedented action to counter the nation’s health and economic crises, as well as a marker for an eventual negotiation with Senate Republicans and the White House. Yet the final version left both progressives and moderate Democrats dissatisfied, POLITICO’s Sarah Ferris and Heather Caygle report.
That provision comes on top of a separate measure that would cover job-based insurance premiums for laid-off or furloughed workers — two big wins for an industry that’s so far fared well financially during this pandemic.
