Last Updated: Jun. 5, 2024 12:30PMThe North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP is investigating after a man was seriously injured in a crash along the Trans-Canada Highway on Tuesday.
Mounties say they were called to the highway near Trunk Road after receiving a report that a pedestrian had been struck by a car around 10 p.m. Police say a grey Honda Civic was heading south on the highway when a man “attempted to run, westbound, across the south portion of the intersection crosswalk.”
“The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was treated at the scene by BC EHS paramedics and the Duncan Fire Department,” said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Alex Bérubé in a release Wednesday.Sign up for the CHEK Now daily email newsletter to get breaking news and the day's top stories sent to your email.“Investigators continue to collect evidence to piece together the circumstances leading to this collision,” he said.
Anyone with information on the crash, or who may have dashcam video of the area, is asked to contact the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522.
