Pedestrian fatally struck on I-5 near University City was woman, 31 [Breaking]
in the University City area nearly two weeks ago was identified as 31-year-old Angelina Arizaga, county officials said Tuesday.
Arizaga was struck about 11:30 p.m. on March 17 near Genesee Avenue, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office. Shortly before the crash, the California Highway Patrol received calls about a woman who was walking on the shoulder of the freeway. Soon after, witnesses reported that the woman was walking against traffic in a middle lane, CHP officials said.
Arizaga was struck in the No. 2 lane, which is next to the fast lane, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office. She died before she could be taken to a hospital.
