BREAKING: PCO Clerk Michael Wernick retiring, Trudeau names replacement
Clerk of the Privy Council Michael Wernick waits to appear before the Justice Committee meeting in Ottawa, Thursday February 21, 2019. OTTAWA – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is replacing Clerk of the Privy Council Michael Wernick, as the head public servant has announced his “upcoming retirement."
Wernick has been in the midst of the ongoing SNC-Lavalin scandal, named by Jody Wilson-Raybould as one of the senior officials who she alleges was involved in pressuring her. There have been calls from the opposition for his resignation.More to come.
