Drummondville is hoping a club with four of the top 27 picks from 2020 — including towering NHL first-rounder Maveric Lamoureux on the backend — can produce a champion. The Volts paid heavily for 18-year-old star forward Ethan Gauthier from Sherbrooke and ex-Halifax coach Sylvain Favreau will coach the club.
In the Eastern Conference, the question is if anyone has caught up to Halifax. The Mooseheads, along with the Memorial Cup-winning Remparts, finished 30+ points ahead of third-place Moncton in 2022-23. The Remparts squad has been almost completely overhauled but the Mooseheads are optimistic they have enough coming back for another big run.
