Numbers remain well down from pre-pandemic levels
Slightly more than 16,000 passengers moved through the Sault Ste. Marie Airport in August, up five per cent from the previous August.
The 16,425 is the highest monthly total of 2023, but still well below pre-pandemic levels, according to an airport news release. Year to date passenger levels have increased 11 per cent compared to last year, but remain down 24 per cent from pre-pandemic 2019 levels. The current number of flights provided is as follows: Air Canada Express two flights daily. Bearskin Airlines two flights Sunday, three flights daily Monday and Friday; four flights daily on Tuesday and Thursday; six flights on Wednesday. Porter has two daily flights Sunday to Friday and one daily on Saturday.
