“Parma is Ukraine and Ukraine is Parma,” DeGeeter said.
Dec. 21, 2022, 8:16 a.m.PARMA, Ohio -- When reflecting on the past year, Mayor Tim DeGeeter said he’s proud of how the community reacted to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and rallied behind his home city’s Ukrainian Village residents.
“You also had the governor on St. Patrick’s Day coming to do a summit here with community leaders on preparing for refugees. A highlight of this past year was the post-COVID rebound of the Donna Smallwood Activity Center, which boasted not only 250 additional members and new programming opportunities, but the restart of transportation services.
“Additionally, our county councilman, Scott Tuma, secured $4 million in funding towards the clubhouse/events center, which is a great asset. We’re excited about this economic development project as it moves forward in the next phases.”
