Parma’s donation is earmarked toward the replenishment of UH Parma Medical Center’s intensive care unit, cardiac intensive care unit, intensive care step down unit and cardiac care step down unit, as well as for the creation of a Food For Life Market.

“Parma UH leadership representatives came to city hall to request $200,000 in ARPA funds that would benefit our residents and the hospital,” Mayor Tim DeGeeter said.

After a June 6 meeting with UH Parma Medical Center leaders, City Council adopted a resolution to distribute the funds. “The most pressing thing involves the critical care units,” UH Parma Medical Center Chief Operating Officer Dr. James Hill said. “Those things were supposed to have a 10-year shelf life, but they were being used at an extremely high rate,” Hill said. “The ability to refresh that equipment is extremely important.”

“We’re hoping that other cities kind of choose to consider doing similar things with their local hospitals.”
