About 100 activists and supporters gathered on Parliament Hill on Sunday afternoon to denounce the Taliban\u0027s repression of Afghan women.
The event took place just two days before the second anniversary of the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan. United States troops pulled out from a two-decade military mission, that included Canadian involvement, in the country on Aug. 15, 2021.widespread human rights abuses and gender-based violence, with women and girls in the country being deprived of basic rights such as work and education.

The rally featured singing, a rap performance and speeches from local academics, activists and politicians, including member of provincial parliament for Ottawa Centre Joel Harden, Nepean MPP Lisa MacLeod and David Hill, city councillor for Ward 3 Barrhaven West.Article content
