The Jasper wildfire, the largest fire in the national park in 100 years, destroyed a third of the town’s buildings including many homes and businesses

Although some early weekend rain in Alberta brought respite to Jasper National Park from open flames, federal officials say several hot spots began to become more active because of dried-out forest fuel by Sunday.

“This was a good weekend for firefighting,” Ms. Story told a media briefing on Sunday. “But the hard work will be continuing.” “You can’t help but notice all the pictures that people share. His own dog, Jasper, was a 19-year-old Miniature American Eskimo that was put down just days before the wildfire entered the town. He was grateful that his animal did not have to endure the evacuation.
