After nearly four months of trying to convince the Halton District School Board to implement a staff dress code, the parents of a small group of Oakville high school students are threatening to take the issue before a judge.

In a six-page letter sent via their lawyer earlier this week, the parents — two moms and a dad — have given the board until Thursday to apply the same dress code required of students to teachers.over an educator who wears oversized prosthetic breasts with protruding fake nipples to school.

“We are very much trying to dial this back and have some dialogue with the board,” Bandhu says, “so they hear our views. The intent, the goal here is for dialogue and a constructive solution.” Over the last several weeks, the teacher has reportedly been working as a substitute at Dr. Frank Hayden Secondary School. Last week, staff at both Oakville Trafalgar and Dr. Frank Hayden sent emails to parents, saying the schools had been the target of bomb threats.

In an email to the Star, board spokesperson Heather Francey said the board’s responsible use of technology policy prohibits students from capturing, using and transmitting images or video without first getting consent. But, she said, to date, “no student at Oakville Trafalgar High School, Abbey Park High School or Dr. Frank J. Hayden Secondary School has been suspended for that reason.”
