Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, coverage for the two doses of MMR jab that protects five-year-olds has dropped to 85.5% - well below the 95% target recommended to prevent an outbreak of the serious illness.

Dr Kit Yates, science author and senior lecturer at University of Bath, blamed the alarming decline on the ‘dangerous’ anti-vaccine campaigns in the last two years. The survey shows nearly a third of parents are worried about potential side effects of the vaccine, more than 10% said they do not agree with vaccination of any kind and another 8.61% do not believe the jab works.
Some other initial signs include a swollen eyelids, sore, red eyes that may be sensitive to light, fever, small greyish-white spots in the mouth.For most people, the illness lasts around seven to 10 days.
