Dozens of parents of children at midtown school demand that their voices be heard in investigation of racism allegations involving Grade 1 student.

Faridah, whose last name the Star is withholding in order to protect the identity of her child, said she has made note of 48 incidents involving her son.

The boy was eventually switched to another Grade 1 class. It is the second teacher who is on home assignment, along with the school’s principal and vice-principal. The first teacher is on a personal leave. The OPC said that while it is important to address and eliminate systemic racism in the education system, “we are confident that once this incident is thoroughly investigated, the evidence will show that the student in question was never placed in the room depicted in the media reports, let alone with a closed or locked door.”
