Fitterer does some shuffling with the back end of the roster.
Carolina Panthers GM Scott Fitterer made a bevy of moves on Tuesday, activating offensive lineman Austin Corbett from the PUP list, placing three guys on injured reserve, releasing veteran offensive lineman Justin McCray, and signing offensive lineman Brett Toth , and outside linebacker Luiji Vilain to the 53-man roster.
McCray was expected to compete for the interim starting right guard job along with Chandler Zavala and Cade Mays but the Panthers opted to see what they had in the younger talent. McCray, who had appeared in 76 career games and made 29 starts prior to this season, saw very limited action during his brief stint in Carolina. McCray took part in four offensive snaps and seven special teams snaps in two games.
As for the newcomers, Toth has spent four seasons with the Eagles and has appeared in 17 games over the last two years, including one start. Vilain has primarily been a special teamer in the four career games he's played. He began his collegiate career at Michigan but transferred to Wake Forest where he totaled 34 tackles, nine tackles for loss, eight sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one pass breakup as a senior in 2021.
