Padres to begin 2022 spring training schedule on March 18 against Mariners in Peoria, Ariz.
The Padres will begin their Cactus League schedule March 18 at the Peoria Sports Complex against the Mariners, nearly three weeks later that previously scheduled.
The owners’ lockout was lifted Thursday, allowing officials to begin planning an abbreviated spring training ahead of April 7, the Padres’ season-opener at the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Padres’ revamped Cactus League schedule includes 18 games, down from the 31 originally scheduled. They will be the home team in eight of those games, including the March 18 opener against their Mariners complex-mates. The Padres have not yet announced Cactus League start times, ticketing information or a full broadcast schedule.The spring schedule will wrap April 5 against the White Sox before the Padres begin the 2022 season with a road trip through Arizona and San Francisco.
The Padres have also moved up the start time of their April 14 home opener against the Atlanta Braves, from 6:40 p.m. to 5:10 p.m.
