Fernando Tatis Jr.'s home run on Saturday is the Padres' only run in their last 29 innings at Petco Park
Fernando Tatis Jr. homered for the first time in 12 games on Saturday, but the Padres’ 25-year-old right fielder did not speak after the game as if his eighth-inning blast was a breakthrough. First of all, his eighth-inning home run is the only run the Padres have in their last 29 innings at Petco Park and by the time it left the yard to center field the Padres were already down to their last five outs. He also knows it’s going to take more than one good swing to get him back on track.
” That said, Tatis was asked if he’s tinkered with his set-up as much as he has of late. “Probably not,” Tatis said. “But I have really good help and I definitely know I’m going to figure it out and I’m going to get out of it.” Tatis’ nine homers lead the team. He is hitting .244/.328/.418. He will play right field and bat second as the Padres look to avoid a three-game home sweep at the hands of the AL East-leading Yankees. Sunday’s first pitch is at 1:10 p.m.
