Uju Anya addressed the backlash to her tweet about Queen Elizabeth II in a recent interview.

Namely: “I said what I [expletive] said.”, Uju Anya appeared in an interview with Pittsburgh’s 1Hood Media on Wednesday evening, addressing the global backlash to her message — one that she said came from a place of “deep pain and trauma” due to her family’s experience with the British empire’s colonization of Africa.Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos

“Jeff Bezos and his small, petty [expletive] came at me,” Anya told 1Hood Media. “Exposed me to threats to danger, put a big old target on my back to his 5 million followers. The responses became so overwhelming, Anya said she disabled the email contact button on her website. However, she attributed part of the backlash to the everyday experience being of a Black, feminist, left-leaning woman on social media., the CMU professor also believes Bezos may have targeted her for other reasons. Several weeks ago, Anya posted a photo to Twitter posing with Christian Smalls, the labor organizer leading unionization efforts at Amazon’s Staten Island warehouse.
