A cautery device ignited oxygen after a lesion had been removed from the temple of a Lycoming County man.
WILLIAMSPORT – A Lycoming County man seriously burned in a flash fire while undergoing surgery at UPMC Williamsport 2019 has settled his medical liability and negligence lawsuit.
They were reached over a period of time, with county court being advised Tuesday the case had been resolved. The surgery was performed by Dr. Nathalie Lavallee with the anesthesia administered by Dr. Joseph Pastore and Kristin Adkins, a certified registered nurse anesthetist,During the surgery, oxygen that was being provided to Evans was ignited by Lavallee’s use of a Bovie cautery.
