A homeowner was injured and a dog killed in a Monday morning house fire in Lehigh County, and officials say the situation could have been worse if not for the work of neighbors and fire companies.

A next door neighbor came outside, found the fire and heard popping, said North Whitehall Township fire marshal Donald Jacobs.
