in the disappearance of his co-worker has been charged with murder following a seven-month Bucks County grand jury investigation into the case.Co-worker Michael Allen Stark, 49, was identified two months later as a person of interest in Branning’s disappearance. On Thursday, Stark, who has lived in Bethlehem and Easton, was arraigned on 12 charges including murder, robbery, kidnapping, theft and abuse of a corpse, court records show.
Stark was arrested in early October 2021 in Montgomery Township on a bench warrant out of Monroe County for failing to appear in court in a resisting arrest case. A co-worker asked Branning to pick up Stark, and Branning did pick up Stark Oct. 8 when he was released and drove Stark home, authorities said.
Stark was then seen on video on Nov. 13, 2021, at a Michigan pawn shop, pawning a bike, Weintraub has said. The pawn slip listed a Bethlehem address for Stark, his birthdate and a thumbprint that matched to Stark, detectives said. Investigators said they found a new cellphone number for Stark while he was in Michigan, and his sister called him on Jan. 11, 2022. Stark returned the call the next day and was told he was reported missing and that Perkasie police wanted to speak to him about Branning’s disappearance.
