Investigators learned that the baby's father would cut methamphetamine powder on top of the washer and dryer in the family's basement.
A Pennsylvania father is accused of playing a role in his 9-month-old son’s death after investigators found methamphetamine in comforters used with the baby.
An autopsy found that the baby had amphetamine and methamphetamine in his system and that he died from drug toxicity and asphyxia, according to the affidavit. The family had a birthday party the day before the overdose. After the party, Harris, his wife, the baby and another 2-year-old son went to bed in the family’s king-size bed around 11 p.m.
Harris said he thought they were awake eating for about half an hour, before going back upstairs to sleep again. Lab testing found that the residue on the credit card was methamphetamine, according to the affidavit. In a later interview with investigators, Harris confirmed that the comforter had been pulled up over the baby’s head when he noticed something was wrong.
