CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — P.E.I. has signed a brokerage agreement with a Saskatchewan college that will allow more internationally trained nurses living on the Island to become accredited to work in Canada.
The programs aim to enhance the nursing knowledge and skills of internationally educated nurses and familiarize them with the unique practices within the Canadian health-care system. The curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including health assessment, communication, care of the elderly, medical technology, terminology, drug therapy theory, regulations, ethics, safety, cultural competency and more.
Graduates of the program will be prepared to write the National Council Licensure Examination and may qualify for registration with the College of Registered Nurses and Midwives of P.E.I. .
