CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Oysters from Prince Edward Island have raised concerns in the United States as they might contain potentially harmful pathogens such as salmonella and E. coli.on Oct. 20 urging restaurants and food retailers to take immediate action by disposing of any oysters sourced from Future Seafoods Inc.
in Bedeque, which were harvested from area PE9B on Oct. 10.These affected oysters found their way into various states, including Florida, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The oysters may look, smell and taste normal, but the Canadian Food Inspection Agency confirmed the presence of salmonella and E. coli and contacted the FDA on Oct. 18.
