Adrian Kay, 35, walks into provincial court in Charlottetown on July 20, 2022 for a sentencing hearing. Kay, of Cornwall, P.E.I., was previously convicted of sexual assault and sexual interference with respect to a 10-year-old girl.CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A Cornwall, P.E.I. man has been sentenced for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl last year.
On that date, the girl, who is now 11 years old, was at Kay's residence visiting one of his family members. Kay sat next to the girl on a couch while watching a movie and touched her hair and ear. He then put his hand on the inside of her thighs. Orr said that Kay touched the girl for a sexual purpose and that the touching wasn't accidental or incidental.
Kay said at trial that there was nothing inappropriate about his social media communications with the girl. He still maintains that he is innocent of the sexual offences. Mullin also provided the court with an update on Kay's alcohol use, which was an issue raised at trial and in a pre-sentence report. The update was that Kay has reduced his alcohol consumption from five to six beers a day to one to two beers a day.In addition to jail time, Orr sentenced Kay to two years of probation.
