A P.E.I. man has been sentenced in provincial court for attempting to rob the Princess Auto store in Charlottetown.

Diamond told the court that on Nov. 21 at 7 p.m., Campbell was at the Princess Auto store, placed items into a shopping cart valued at $739 and attempted to leave without paying. Campbell was captured on the store's video footage committing the offence. The vehicle's licence plate was also captured on video. Campbell was arrested that day and gave a statement to police disputing the robbery with violence allegation and instead admitted to trying to steal from the business, said Diamond.Campbell has a lengthy criminal record, which includes a nine-month robbery sentence on April 19.
