CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A Stratford, P.E.I., man charged with several counts of rental and construction fraud as well as impersonating a police officer is facing additional charges, including using a forged Stewart McKelvey law firm letter.

Kelly Roland Giroux, 56, appeared in provincial court in Charlottetown on Oct. 11 via video from the Provincial Correctional Centre. Giroux doesn't have a lawyer and represented himself in court. According to a press release from the RCMP, on Sept. 22, as part of a lengthy investigation, a search warrant was executed at a Stratford residence and Giroux and another man were arrested.

Giroux is also charged with allegedly impersonating a police officer on Sept. 3 in Stratford in relation to one of the fraudulent room rentals, and with break, enter and theft on Aug. 10 into a building in Elmwood.On Oct. 11, several additional charges were read in court.

Judge Nancy Orr adjourned Giroux's matters to Oct. 16. Giroux has yet to enter pleas on any of the charges. Terrence McEachern is a justice reporter with SaltWire in Prince Edward Island. He can be reached by email at
