A truck travels over a traffic counter in this SaltWire file photo.CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — P.E.I. is implementing spring weight restrictions for large trucks on Island roads starting March 11.During the restriction period, the maximum loads allowed per axle for larger trucks are reduced, overweight permits are not issued, tolerances are not allowed and are not valid on all-weather highways.

Additionally, weight enforcement efforts are increased and overweight fines triple, potentially to several thousands of dollars.
