The most common symptoms of norovirus are diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and stomach pain, health officials said.
Retailers were warned to not serve raw oysters harvested from the following harvest locations within British Columbia — BC 14-8 and BC 14-15 — with harvest starting as early as Jan. 31, the FDA said in a statement.
The oysters were harvested in the southern and central parts of Baynes Sound in British Columbia and were sent to retailers and restaurants in New Jersey, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, Oregon, Texas and Washington, and possibly other states, health officials said.and food contaminated with it may look, smell and taste normal, authorities said.are diarrhea, vomiting, nausea and stomach pain, the FDA said.
A person usually develops symptoms 12 to 48 hours after being exposed to norovirus, and most people with norovirus illness get better within one to three days. Restaurants and retailers were warned to not sell the potentially affected raw oysters, and consumers in those states were told not to eat any raw oysters from that area of British Columbia.
