Police found Kieu Lam dead in bed and it looked like she had been beaten to death. Chau, who called police, and sister Hue, were arrested and later charged with first-degree murder. The Lam sisters were interviewed by Ottawa homicide detectives and gave incriminating statements, according to police.The accused killers lived with their mom at the time and started contemplating the murder days before, police believe. Neighbours said sisters Chau Khanh, 56, and Hue Ai, 59, lived in the east-end townhouse for a decade with their mom, who could often be seen walking. Neighbours said they knew them only enough to say hello along Bowmount Street, north of Donald Street between St. Laurent Blvd. and Cummings Avenue.Chau Lam confirmed in a court appearance she will be defended by Ewan Lyttle, while Hue Lam will be represented by Paolo Giancaterino.The Lam sisters remain in jail awaiting an unscheduled bail hearing.
