Ottawa Residents Face Price Hikes for Transit, Parking, and City Services in 2025

Ottawa residents will experience a range of price increases in 2025, impacting transportation, parking, utilities, and recreational activities. Transit fares will rise by 5%, with the elimination of free rides for 11- and 12-year-olds. Property taxes will increase by 3.9%, adding $168 to the average bill. Water, wastewater, and stormwater rates will rise by an average of 4.4%, while garbage collection fees will jump from $145 to $243 for single-family households. Parking rates on city streets will increase by 2.6 to 2.9%, and rental and membership fees for arenas and recreational activities will also see increases.
