Released by the Hamilton Tiger\u002DCats on Wednesday, he signed a deal with his new team just three days later.
“Being in the middle of rehab and having to pick up and figure out my next move was an emotional rollercoaster ride,” Addison said Saturday. “Hamilton had a special place in my heart. I’d built relationships in that community going back to 2018. I’d gone to so many schools and gotten involved in their programs. It was tough to all of a sudden have to say goodbye. usually an end-of-season thing. This came out of left field. I’m happy to close that chapter and start something new.
“When I was a kid, my dad would joke and tell me I performed better when my back was against the wall. When everything is good, most people are better. I don’t know what it is, but I’ve always been a person, when I’m pushed up against the wall, when adversity hits, I like to respond. I still want to bark, I still want to bite, I still want to fight back.”
Before landing in the CFL, the former Oregon Duck, who was an all-state high school quarterback, got looks from the National Football League’s Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears. He joined the CFL’s Toronto Argos, who kept him on their practice roster before releasing him in August 2018. The Ticats, looking for bodies, added him … and sat him. With some starters injured, he got a look in the final game of the regular season, putting up 103 yards in catches.
