The Ottawa Redblacks suffered a 27-22 loss to the Toronto Argos, marking their second consecutive 4-14 season. The game saw a low attendance and the Redblacks struggled to make adjustments against the Argos' defense. Despite a late touchdown, neither Justin Hardy nor Devonte Williams reached 1,000 yard milestones in receiving and rushing.
As they have done much more often than not since 2018, the Ottawa Redblacks came up painfully short in their season finale Saturday at TD Place. The 27-22 loss to the CFL-leading Toronto Argos left the Redblacks with their second consecutive 4-14 season and a record of 14-54 since they lost to the Calgary Stampeders in the Grey Cup game five years ago.
But the story for defending champs on this night was the defence, which blitzed just about every snap because the Redblacks couldn’t come up with an answer. The TD put Hardy, who entered the game needing 110 yards, into quadruple digits and, with a couple of big runs on the drive, put Williams at 42 yards on the might and 994 yards on the season.
Trailing 14-6 with just over 21 minutes left in their season, head coach Bob Dyce refused to gamble on a third and two, opting instead to send kicker Michael Domagala for a successful 46-yard field goal.
