Ottawa firefighters extinguished a fire that started in the garage of a townhome, spreading to a vehicle in the driveway. Two women were treated for minor smoke inhalation.
The information you need to know, sent directly to you: Download the CTV News App A news release from Ottawa Fire Services says they received multiple 911 callers reporting smoke and flames coming out of the garage of a townhome in the 300 block of Macoun Circle shortly before 3:15 a.m. On arrival, fire crews found the flames had also spread to a vehicle in the driveway. Firefighters began a 'fast attack' on the fire and advanced a hose line inside the structure.
Ottawa paramedics say two women were assessed at the scene for minor smoke inhalation. Both were transported to hospital in stable condition. A full search of the home found no other occupants inside, according to Ottawa fire. Firefighters were able to protect nearby structures that were at risk of catching fire.High pressurized fans were used to ventilate residual smoke out of the structure. The air quality was confirmed to be safe before allowing residents to return inside.
