The homeowner was able to safely escape a fire on Bank Street between Cenote and Stone School roads early Tuesday

The fire had spread from the first floor up into the attic and the roof of the house and to the electrical wires. Firefighters set up an exclusion zone around the wires. They used an OC Transpo bus to warm up as they rotated in and out of fighting the fire. Crews pulled down ceilings inside the house to get the fire under control at 5:16 a.m. but remained on the scene to hunt for hot spots. A fire investigator was called in to find the cause and origin of the blaze.
