Neilson donated $55 to crowd-funding campaigns for the “Freedom Convoy” protest that blocked downtown Ottawa streets for three weeks.
“Unfortunately, instances of real and perceived police officers’ support for the illegal occupiers have received much attention and criticism and has had a significant detrimental effect on the reputation of the .” Neilson first gave $55 on Jan. 23 to the “Freedom Convoy” organization on GoFundMe. The money was returned on Feb. 5 after that platform ended the fundraising for violating community standards. That same day, Neilson contributed $55 to the convoy on the GiveSendGo platform, which was also later refunded.Article content
